Colour connects (CAMH, Forensic unit)

patients in forensic Unit 3-2 were able to take part in art workshops I facilitated. I guided patients in the creative process, prompting them to participate by offering them a selection of tools and artistic mediums to work with, while engaging them in casual discussions about life, activities they love, and the things that inspire them –these ideas and conversations guided the redesign of the unit’s activity room. Their artwork is included in the digital mural in the space.

“Feels like a collective piece that brings everyone together. It’s the nicest it’s ever been in here.”

Painting Process

“Caroline created a colourful artistic environment. that is welcoming, encouraging and supportive to patients. Her art workshops were fun, free flowing and encouraging for any level of participation. Patients were encouraged to participate in their own way and the materials provided led to a lot of creative opportunities, and yielded some fun, colourful artwork. Seeing the sample drafts of what the space would be was nothing compared to seeing it in person, she has transformed the dull institutional green walls in our activity room space into a vibrant, fun and welcoming place to be together.

The wall has become a talking piece, a place to let lost in the collage imagery and colour. It has rejuvenated our programming space. The colours of the walls complement each other and supports the collage art work on the wall. The imagery of the collage work brings positive comments and those individuals whose work is part of the collage enjoy seeing their work incorporated together as one, beautiful piece of art.”
