Falling Forward is a personal portrait of intergenerational friendship and grief. This film is a testament to the healing power of creativity, humour, grit and determination in the face of loss.

This episode for Brooklyn's Public Records Public Access channel marks the process of letting go for all the artists involved. Doomsquad gives their last live performance. After having the time to think about this project existentially, and consider the unknown future of touring and performing live shows, they realized they had said all they needed to say as DOOMSQUAD. This will be their Swan Song. Blake Macfarlane’s animation was made while awaiting a cancer diagnosis. This was the last completed piece of art he made. Jane makes her debut as a model after letting go of the idea that she was “too old” at 75, Diana let go of reality as she created her cosmic landscapes and Bold Doses made these tracks while experiencing bad COVID symptoms and the overwhelming urge to make feel good music for his friends.

Letting go is a painful process. One of rupture, sometimes even violence. As we collectively let go of old systems, habits, expectations, relationships and projects we must remember that this process is necessary for growth, renewal and the deep radical changes we so desperately need as we look towards a new horizon.

Trish hired me to create a video that brought EWANIKA to her customers while we were isolating while in lock down. Trish trusted my creative vision and let me run wild with her beautiful clothing. I wanted our film to capture the spirit of autumn, Paris in 60s while speaking to the loneliness of the moment.

I made this video for one of my fave Brooklyn bands - Otro Lado.

Color Connects demonstrated the power of colour as a tool for restoring connection to ourselves, each other and to our surroundings through a series of collage workshops I facilitated with the clients on the non-medical detox unit at Project Renewal’s 3rd St Men’s Shelter, these workshops culminated in a collective colour intervention within the space. Through weekly art classes, ongoing conversation and collaboration the clients chose the colours for the walls and we painted them together.

Party Time was a Learning Lab made up of a series art parties designed for SickKids Hospital. For each party, Marnie’s lounge was transformed into a colorful, vibrant art studio where patients and their family members were invited to stop by, hang out and make art. We also made a series of animated instructional videos for patients who were too unwell to attend the parties. Patients were given the appropriate art materials and the the videos will be played on their bedside TV screens so that they could join the party.

My brother Blake and I made these video portraits to help the community of Kensington Market fight the threat of Walmart moving into this historic and diverse community of small businesses and family run stores. These videos were played at community meetings and events to celebrate what makes Kensington Market so special. Although rising rents and corporate development still threaten the unique fabric of Kensington Market; Walmart ditched their plans to move into the neighbourhood due to the efforts of residents and locals! It was gratifying to part of this community effort.
